Details about けど:
けど is one of the common conjunction particles in Japanese. These are particles that function by connecting the (A) and (B) parts of a sentence. けど works very similarly to が, in that it highlights 'while thinking about (A), (B)'. This means that けど will often come across as 'but' in English.
けど is just a modern (casual) version of けれども. Please see below for a list of the most casual, to the most formal variations.
Casual - けど - けども - けれど - けれども - が - Formal
- 毎日泳ぐけど、今日は泳がない。I swim everyday, but I will not swim today.
- 北海道は寒いけど、綺麗。Hokkaido is cold, but pretty.
- 田舎は静かだけど、不便だ。The countryside is quiet, but inconvenient.
- これはステーキだけど、冷たい。This is a steak, but it is cold.

Casual - けど - けども - けれど - けれども - が - Formal
- 私は肉を食べるけども、野菜も好き。I eat meat, but I also like vegetables.
- 私は水が怖いけれど、泳ぐのが好きです。I am afraid of the water, but I like to swim.
- お酒は飲むけれども、ワインは飲まないです。I drink alcoholic beverages, but I don't drink wine.
- 沖縄は綺麗ですが、暑いです。Okinawa is beautiful, but hot.
けど
Usage Notes for けど:
The phrase after けど will often be omitted if it is obvious, or the speaker does not want to say it.
- パソコンはないけど。（大丈夫？）I don't have a computer… (but is that okay?)

Example of けど
便利だけど、高い。
It is convenient, but expensive.
その赤いTシャツが好きだけど、青いTシャツを買う。
I like that red T-shirt, but I will buy the blue one.
毎日シャワーを浴びるけど、今日は浴びない。
I take a shower every day, but today I will not.
私がトムだけど・・・
I am Tom... (but do you need something?)
お金があるけど、買いません。
I have money, but I won't buy (it).
